Contactless Van Pick-up Step by Step

Contactless Van Pick-up Step by Step

Contactless van pick-up step by step

Contactless van pick-up means you take over the vehicle yourself, with no counter and no waiting for staff. The whole process runs in the web app on your phone and takes a few minutes. That's exactly why we operate non-stop and you can pick up a vehicle even at three in the morning.

Before you set off

Have a charged phone, mobile data and your documents ready. Without a phone you can't get into the vehicle, because that's what you unlock it with. You need two documents, one of which is a category B driving licence. The booking and payment are taken care of in advance, online by card, so you don't pay anything on the spot.

Arriving at the location

Arrive with a little time to spare. Ten extra minutes is enough to inspect the vehicle calmly and not start your move under stress. If you come in your own car, you can park it at the location free of charge for the duration of the rental and collect it again when you return the van.

Photo documentation

You photograph the vehicle following the instructions in the app. Don't rush it. The photos are proof of the condition in which you took over the vehicle, and they mainly protect you. Go round all four sides, the wheels, the glass and the cargo area. If you find damage that is missing from the photos, add it.

Unlocking and keys

You unlock the vehicle straight from your phone, and you'll find the keys in the glovebox on the passenger side. There's no handing over keys from person to person. You don't pay a deposit and nothing is blocked on your card, so that part of the paperwork disappears too.

A quick check before you leave

Before you drive off, go through a few basic things. The fuel level, working lights and wipers, a clean cargo area. Look in the cab too, to see whether anything has been left behind by the previous customer. It takes a minute and saves arguments at return.

When something isn't right

Don't leave a problem until after your trip. If the vehicle isn't what you expected, or you find damage that isn't recorded anywhere else, document it and get in touch with us before you leave. Time-stamped photos are the strongest argument in a situation like this.

Why nothing is handed over in person

It removes any dependence on opening hours. Nobody has to be on duty, so you can pick up a vehicle at six in the morning or on a public holiday. At the same time, you don't pay a deposit and nothing is blocked on your card, because the vehicle's condition is documented by the photos from pick-up and return.

Before your first drive and at return

Sit down and get a feel for the vehicle

A van handles differently from a car. Adjust the seat and mirrors, find the light and wiper controls and check the fuel level. The vehicles run on diesel and have a manual gearbox. Drive out of the car park slowly so you get used to the longer wheelbase and poorer rear visibility.

During the rental

Only the person named in the contract is allowed to drive. A second driver can be added, but must be registered in advance. You drive within the Czech Republic, mileage is unlimited and a valid motorway vignette is included in the price, so you don't need to worry about motorways.

Refuelling before you return

You took over the vehicle with a full tank and you return it with a full tank. Plan your last refuel at a petrol station near the location. You always return to the same place where you picked up the vehicle.

Cleaning the cargo area

Sweep out the load area and take your rubbish away. Bits of cardboard, soil from flowerpots or sawdust from DIY-store materials are quick to clean up straight away, harder after a few hours.

Return step by step

Park and take photos

The procedure is the same as at pick-up, just in reverse. Park at the location and photograph the vehicle again following the app's instructions. Take the photos in daylight; if you're returning at night, use a torch.

Keys back and lock up

You put the keys back in the glovebox on the passenger side and lock the vehicle via the app. Check that you haven't left your phone, charger or documents in the cab. That's the end of the rental.

Allow extra time for the return

The journey back is underestimated more often than the journey there. Add on refuelling, driving into the location and the photos themselves. If you're returning during the Prague rush hour, feel free to add an extra half hour so you don't have to extend the rental because of ten minutes.

Keep the photos yourself too

Save the pictures from pick-up and return on your phone. That way you have your own copy in case anything needs to be sorted out later. It's the same principle as a photo of the odometer reading — a few seconds of work that put you in a better position in the event of a dispute.
