Van rental with no deposit: how it works

Van rental with no deposit means you don't put down any security when picking up the van and nothing is blocked on your payment card. You pay for the rental and, as far as money goes, that's it. For lots of people this is the main reason they think about where to rent a van at all.

Why other companies take a deposit

A deposit is how a rental company protects itself against damage. A block on a card is quick and requires no trust. But it's the customer who loses out: nobody takes the money, but they can't count on it for the duration of the rental and often for some time afterwards. With larger amounts this throws your budget off exactly when you're moving and spending on ten other things.

What replaces the deposit

Instead of blocking money, the whole system is built on photo documentation and the contract. You photograph the vehicle through the web app at pick-up, and again at return. Both sides then have proof of the van's condition at that moment, and nobody argues later about a scratch that was already there. It takes a few minutes and it's the best protection you have.

Insurance and excess

The second pillar is the insurance you choose when booking. The package you select determines the amount of the excess, i.e. the amount you would pay in the event of damage. This isn't a deposit — nothing is blocked or charged in advance. But it pays to choose the package based on where you're going and how demanding the loading will be.

How payment works

Payment is made exclusively online by card; we don't accept cash. You can make a booking from your phone in a few minutes, with no registration or user account needed.

How any damage is handled

Damage is assessed according to the contract and the insurance you chose, not by deducting from a blocked amount. That's exactly why the photo documentation matters so much — it establishes what condition the vehicle was in before and after your trip. A few minutes of taking photos at pick-up is the best protection you have during the whole rental.

Who benefits most from no deposit

It's most appreciated by people who are spending money on something else right now. When moving, a lot of money goes on furniture, materials or helpers, and having part of your card limit blocked at such a time is unpleasant. The same goes for sole traders who need a free limit for running costs.

What it means in practice

Booking without creating an account

You don't need to create a profile or remember a password. You choose a van in our fleet, pick your dates, pay by card and receive the pick-up details. We operate around the clock, so you can book and pick up late in the evening or at the weekend too.

Your money stays yours

You don't need to keep a reserve on your card for a block. This is especially appreciated by people who are moving and paying by card for furniture, materials or helpers as well. There's also no waiting for a blocked amount to be released after the rental ends.

Your part of the deal

You return the vehicle in the condition you received it

Not paying a deposit doesn't free you from responsibility for the van. You pick up the van with a full tank and return it full, at the same location where you collected it. Sweep out the cargo area after yourself so the next customer gets into a clean van.

Only the person named in the contract drives

Only the person named in the contract may drive. If you want to take turns on a longer route, a second driver can be added, but they must be registered in advance. Lending the van to a friend who isn't in the contract isn't possible.

Driving within the Czech Republic

The vans may only be driven within the Czech Republic. Our terms don't allow trips abroad. But within the country you can drive as far as you need — mileage is unlimited and the motorway vignette is included in the price.

Before you book

Check two things. All vans run on diesel and have a manual gearbox, so you can't drive them with a licence restricted to automatics. And you can cancel your booking free of charge up to 72 hours before the rental starts. You'll find other customers' experiences in the reviews section, and the rest is covered in the FAQ.

Choose a van to match your load

Payload ranges roughly between 1 100 and 1 450 kg depending on the model. For an ordinary house move, the limit tends to be the length and height of the cargo area rather than weight, so measure the biggest item you'll be carrying. The dimensions are listed for each model.

How much time to allow for pick-up

The pick-up itself takes a few minutes, but leave yourself some slack. You photograph the vehicle, unlock it with your phone and collect the keys from the compartment on the passenger side. Ten extra minutes is enough to adjust the seat and mirrors so you don't pull out into traffic in a rush.
