Renting a van at the weekend and on public holidays

Renting a van at the weekend is neither an exception nor a premium service with us. We operate non-stop, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Saturday, Sunday and public holidays work exactly the same as a Tuesday morning.

You don't depend on opening hours

You pick up the van contactlessly via the web app. Nobody has to hand you keys over a counter — you take photos of the vehicle, unlock it with your phone and find the keys in the glovebox on the passenger side. This removes the main reason why other places don't rent on holidays: nobody is on duty.

When to book the van

Weekends are the most popular dates, especially in moving season. Saturday mornings tend to be booked up sooner than weekday afternoons. If your moving date is fixed, reserve the van well in advance and don't count on something becoming free. You will find the current offer and van dimensions in our fleet.

Early morning and late evening

You choose when your rental starts. If you want your move done by lunchtime, set off at six in the morning. If you are moving things after work, pick up the van in the early evening. In Prague, the morning hours also have the advantage of quieter streets and easier stopping outside the building.

Payment works on Sundays too

Bookings are paid online by card, so the day or hour doesn't matter. We don't accept cash and you don't need to create an account anywhere. You can do it all from your phone in no time.

Public holidays and long weekends

A public holiday is not a closing day for us. You can pick up the vehicle on Easter Monday or between the holidays at the end of the year. Long weekends are a popular time for renovations and moving larger volumes of things, so it pays to book earlier than usual.

Return outside normal hours

Just like pick-up, return works at any time. So you don't have to catch any window for handing in the keys. You return the van to the same location where you picked it up, with a full tank. You put the keys back in the glovebox on the passenger side and lock the vehicle via the app.

No surcharge for weekend dates

We don't charge for a Saturday any differently than for a Wednesday. Rates depend on the size of the van and the length of the rental, not on the day of the week. Mileage within the Czech Republic is unlimited and a valid motorway vignette is included in the price, so a weekend trip outside Prague is not an extra item to worry about.

How to plan your weekend trip

Check your destination's opening hours

The van is available to you non-stop, but the place you are going to usually isn't. Collection points, shops and waste drop-off sites often have different hours on holidays than on weekdays. Before you book a date, check the website of the place in question to see whether it will be open at all and until when.

Allow for weekend traffic

At weekends, road closures and diversions are more common in Prague. Go over your route in advance; with a van you don't want to deal with detours through narrow streets. On the other hand, the centre tends to be much easier to get through in the morning than in the weekday rush hour.

Parking at the loading point

Paid parking zones apply in many Prague streets at weekends too. Follow the signs in the specific street; parking in blue zones is not part of the service. At our locations you can leave your own car free of charge for the duration of the rental, so at least that's one worry you don't have at both ends.

Refuelling before return

The van is returned with a full tank to the same location where you picked it up. On Sunday evenings some petrol stations have limited hours, so don't leave refuelling until the last minute. All our vehicles run on diesel.

Things to think about in advance

Cancellation period

You can cancel your booking free of charge up to 72 hours before the start of the rental. For a Saturday date, that means deciding by Wednesday. If you know the date isn't certain yet, it is better to book only once you have actually agreed things with your helpers.

Who will drive

Only the person named in the contract may drive. If you want to take turns at the weekend, register the second driver in advance. You will find the other conditions in the FAQ section.

Find helpers just as far in advance

More people have time off at the weekend, but also more plans. Arrange help with loading at the same time as you book the van. On your own, carrying heavy furniture up and down stairs will slow you down so much that you will overrun even a generously estimated time slot.

Mornings tend to be calmer than afternoons

Saturday mornings in retail parks are among the busiest times. If you set off first thing in the morning, you will save time at the collection point and when looking for somewhere to stop. You can read about other customers' experiences in the reviews section.
