Who can drive a rental van
Only the person named in the contract may drive a rental van. This is neither a formality nor needless bureaucracy. The contract determines who is responsible for the vehicle, and that is also what any damage claim depends on. Anyone else must be added to the contract in advance.
A category B driving licence is enough
You don't need any higher category for our vans. The vehicles are registered at up to 3.5 tonnes gross weight, so you drive them with an ordinary “B” licence. Your driving licence must be valid and you must carry it with you throughout the journey.
Check for an automatic-only restriction
All our vans have a manual gearbox and run on diesel. If your driving licence has a code restricting you to vehicles with automatic transmission, you cannot drive the van. It is better to check this at home than in the car park on the day of pick-up.
Have two identity documents ready
You need two valid documents to sign the contract. One of them is your driving licence, the other is typically an ID card or a passport. The documents must belong to the person who will actually drive the vehicle — not to a friend who is just paying.
Cover is tied to the driver in the contract
The amount of the excess depends on the cover package you choose when booking. Whichever one you choose, it assumes that the driver named in the contract is behind the wheel. That is exactly why it pays to have your paperwork in order before you set off.
Driving within the Czech Republic only
The vehicles may only be used within the Czech Republic. Trips abroad are not possible, regardless of who is named in the contract. The vehicle has a valid Czech motorway vignette, included in the rental price.
No need to create an account or register
You don't need to register with us at all. You complete the booking without creating a user account, and payment is made online by card. Pick-up itself is contactless via the web app, so you are not waiting for anyone — we operate non-stop.
The person who books and the person who drives don't have to be the same
One person can make the booking and another can drive. However, the driver must be named in the contract and provide their documents. You will find details in the FAQ and an overview of the vehicles in our fleet.
How to add a second driver to your van rental
Register them in advance, not on the way
A second driver can be added, but you must register them. The easiest way is to do it when booking or before picking up the van. Adding them during the rental is not impossible, just needlessly complicated — so get in touch sooner rather than later.
What the second driver needs to provide
The same rules apply to them as to the first driver. That means a valid category B driving licence without an automatic-only restriction and a second identity document. Without these documents they cannot be added to the contract.
When a second driver really pays off
Always add one if you plan to take turns. Typically for an all-day move, when one person loads and the other drives, or on a longer route around the country. Mileage within the Czech Republic is unlimited, so nothing holds you back from longer journeys — except your own tiredness.
What happens if someone not named drives
It is a breach of contract and a big problem if there is damage. Handling an insurance claim gets complicated as soon as someone was behind the wheel who, according to the contract, shouldn't have been. Adding a driver in advance takes a few minutes; the consequences of forgetting tend to be incomparably more expensive.
Agree on money in advance too
Make it clear who will bear any damage. The amount of the excess depends on the cover package chosen when booking and is dealt with by the person the booking is in the name of — regardless of which driver was driving at the time. An agreement between friends is something better settled in advance.
Taking turns doesn't mean looser rules
Even with a second driver, everything else applies unchanged. You don't pay a deposit and nothing is blocked on your card, but the vehicle may only be used in the Czech Republic and must be returned with a full tank. The Czech motorway vignette is included in the price.
Agree on who picks up the vehicle
Pick-up takes place via the web app on your phone. You take photos of the vehicle, unlock it with your phone and find the keys in the glovebox on the passenger side. It is practical for the driver who has the booking and the link to hand to do this.
Split the tasks for the return too
The vehicle is returned with a full tank to the same location where you picked it up. Agree in advance which of you will refuel and who will drive the van back. You can read about the experiences of other customers who picked up a van as a pair in the reviews.
