A van for your wedding: transporting decorations, chairs and equipment

A van for your wedding saves your nerves, especially on the big day

A wedding happens in several places at once. The flowers are collected from the florist, the cake from the patisserie, the hired equipment from a warehouse, and the decorations are at three different people's homes. A van for your wedding lets you collect everything on one route instead of five trips by car.

What usually gets transported

The things nobody counts take up the most space. Folding chairs, decoration stands, a ceremony arch, a carpet, crates of glasses, drinks, kegs, cool boxes and boxes of decorations. Floral decorations look like a small thing, but vases and arrangements need a stable base and plenty of space.

Who will drive

Don't give this role to any of the main players. Ideally it's someone who has no other job on the wedding day and isn't drinking. Only the person named in the contract may drive; a second driver, if needed, must be registered and added in advance.

Write down where everything is collected from

Make a simple itinerary with addresses and times. For each stop, note who is handing things over and exactly what you're collecting. On the wedding day nobody has the capacity to phone around finding out whether the stands are being collected from an aunt's or from the warehouse.

Order the route by fragility

Pick up the most delicate things last. Flowers and the cake at the end of the round, heavy and robust equipment at the beginning. You'll save yourself rearranging things and cut the time the arrangements spend in the van.

Plan two slots, not one

Most things are transported the day before, not in the morning. Decorations are set up in advance, otherwise nothing gets done in time in the morning. So plan one trip for delivery and a second for taking everything away after the event.

Mileage within the Czech Republic is unlimited, so driving round suppliers in the area or a trip to a country barn an hour from Prague makes no difference to the price. The vans are driven exclusively within the Czech Republic.

Book well in advance — the wedding season from May to September is the busiest time. Cancellation is free up to 72 hours before the rental starts.

Choose a van according to the bulkiest item you're carrying. That's usually folding tables or the ceremony arch. You'll find the load space dimensions for each model in our fleet.

Loading fragile items

Glass and crockery in crates

Never carry glasses, vases and plates loose. Use crates with compartments or boxes padded with newspaper and towels. Stand the crates on the floor and never stack more than two on top of each other, otherwise the bottom one will get crushed.

Flowers last

Load the arrangements last and carry them upright. Stand vases in crates or buckets so they don't tip over. On a hot day, don't leave them in a closed vehicle in the sun for longer than you have to — the flowers won't survive it.

The cake goes in the cab, not in the back

A tiered cake belongs on a flat floor and in the shade. The safest place is usually the passenger footwell, where someone can hold it. The load space heats up quickly in summer.

After the wedding comes the clean-up

Plan the return trip in advance

Agree a day in advance who will return the chairs and glasses the next day. Leave time for it even when you don't feel like going anywhere. Equipment hire companies usually have fixed return times, and late returns are usually charged.

Sort things right on the spot

Separate empty bottles, rubbish and unused decorations while loading. You'll save yourself a second round of sorting at home. Never carry rubbish loose in the load space — always in bags.

Drinks and kegs

Kegs and crates of bottles belong on the floor against the front wall. Stand them upright and strap them down — a rolling keg can damage everything around it. Load them among the first so you don't have to move decorations around because of them.

Leave yourself spare time

Loading and unloading always take longer than planned. Add at least twenty extra minutes to each stop for finding parking and carrying things.

Returning the van

The vehicle is returned with a full tank to the same location where you picked it up. We operate around the clock, so it doesn't matter if you're coming back from the reception on Sunday evening. You can leave your own car parked at the location free of charge for the duration of the rental.

There's no deposit and nothing is blocked on your card, which comes in handy with a wedding budget. For pick-up, all you need is two valid proofs of identity, one of which is a category B driving licence. You'll find everything else in the FAQ section.
